Meyersdale Battery

The Meyersdale Battery is a 18MW/12MWh lithium-ion battery storage project located in Somerset, PA (PJM) that reached commercial operations in 2015. The asset was acquired in 2019 and provided GlidePath a relatively low-risk first operating project that it could use to gain and to demonstrate experience in PJM, where it has a substantial development pipeline.

Prior to acquisition, the previous owner had a completed a full battery replacement utilizing LG Chem’s latest module technology. GlidePath has implemented a revised dispatch algorithm which has allowed the asset to increase its potential revenue in the energy and ancillary markets. The project also benefits from a shared facilities agreement between the battery project and a wind farm at the site.
